Job Description
Transport of goods and raw materials over land and from manufacturing plants and/or retail distribution centers
Inspect vehicles for mechanical and safety issues regularly
Perform preventive maintenance regularly
Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
Document all activity while working in your log book (rest periods, work periods, kilometers spent while driving, etc.)
Retain all fuel and toll receipts
Report any defects, accidents or violations back to the office
Collect, verify and respect delivery instructions
Always keep operations department informed on your position while on the road for deliveries
Comply with all trucking rules and regulations and with all company policies and procedures
Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions
Perform all other related duties
Requirements
Have a valid Class 1 driver’s license (truck driving license)
Have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience
Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software’s such as but not limited to GPS, dash cams, AVL units, CB, etc.
Trucking school diploma is an asset
Willing to submit to background and drug checks
Must provide employment recommendations
Ability to drive long hours and travel on a regular basis
Ability to adapt and cope with unexpected situations (last minute schedule changes, traffic, weather conditions, client demands, etc.)
Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
